Why Panama ?

Panama is booming. Every day it grows in importance to all countries of the Americas; frequently compared to Switzerland or Singapore for its strategic relationship to the financial and business life of our hemisphere.

It is the second largest banking center in the world after Switzerland and the second largest free trade zone after Hong Kong. Numerous major international companies, over 180 international banks, retirees from all over the world and Americans looking for second homes and investment opportunities are all discovering the many advantages of Panama.

The Latin Business Chronicle in its September 19, 2006 issue reported, “Panama is set to grow more than any other country in Latin America next year, the IMF (International Monetary Fund) fund predicts.” In fact, Panama posted the strongest economic growth in the region with an impressive 10% for 2007. 2008 continues the trend unabated. Not only that, but Panama offers attractive prices compared to America and Europe—especially in the housing sector. The government has a well-thought-out plan to work with private enterprise to develop the nation’s infrastructure, and investors have taken notice.

Panama also boasts one of the greatest engineering marvels in human history, the Panama Canal—and the country is now building a second canal that will quadruple the capacity of ship traffic, bringing an additional $10 Billion in annual revenue to the nation’s economy.

Panama has magnificent rainforests, fascinating indigenous cultures, and some of the finest beaches in the world - no hurricanes, no earthquakes, no tornadoes. From its gleaming skyscrapers to its sun-drenched shores, from its verdant forests to its island resorts, Panama, in the words of Harpers Bazaar, is “the most beautiful retreat in the world.
